Painted Hulls by Painted.App
Her lines, kept
What it is
A marine painting studio for boat owners and the people who buy for them. You bring one photograph of your boat, and the engine paints over it in one of twelve traditions: the Dutch calm of 1660, the luminists’ glass water, Turner’s weather, the Cowes photographers, the regatta lithograph, the lines plan, the sea chart, the Edo woodblock and the rest. The one you keep is printed on paper or canvas, up to 40 × 60″.
The engine works from your own photograph rather than from a description of a boat, so her hull, sheer, rig, colours and waterline come through as you photographed them. Every prompt carries that rule ahead of the style, and every sample on the wall was painted with the same prompt a customer gets.
What it refuses
Improving her. No new lines, no swapped rig, no tidier wheelhouse, no stranger’s boat in her place. The name on her transom stays exactly as photographed and is the only lettering in the picture: no added flags, burgees, logos or wordmarks. People’s faces are not painted; crew stay small figures on deck. No naval or military vessels, and no boat sinking, wrecked or in distress. A photograph that is not of a boat is refused before the engine sees it.
